Digital Storytelling


Teachers use their knowledge of teaching, learning, and technology to facilitate learning experiences that advance student creativity and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.

Teachers will learn what digital story telling is and preview classroom examples and practice using some common digital storytelling tools. They will also learn how to assess student learning as measured by oregon State Standards.





Information Literacy


Teachers use their knowledge of teaching, learning, and technology to facilitate learning experiences that advance student creativity and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments.


Pia Alliende


Teachers will learn how to plan strategies to guide inquiry. Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media. Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks. Process data and report results.





Schoolwires 101


Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes that are representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.


Leasa Winger


Teachers will learn how to log into school wires and how to create a basic teacher page and investigate some of the templates schoolwires offers.


This class will be taught twice.

Schoolwires 201


Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes that are representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society.


Bryan Bahns


Teachers will learn how more advanced features of schoolwires including picture gallery, calendar, blog, and podcasting. Teachers will preview examples of teacher pages and how others have integrated this into their instruction and classroom communication.


Teachers will need to either have attended the 101 class or have a schoolwires page already started.



Office 2007

Web 2.0 Tools


Teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes that are representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society

Blog, wikis, RSS, and Google will be highlighted in this class along with other Web 2.0 tools that were introduced during 23 Things.





Discovery Education


Teachers plan and design authentic learning experiences and assessments incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETS•S


Skip Offenhauser


More than just United Streaming. This class will cover all the resources offered by Discovery Education. Teachers who complete this class will be eligible for applying for STAR educator status from Discovery Education.





Cool Classroom Tools


Teachers continuously improve their professional practice and exhibit leadership in their classroom, school, and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources.

Intro to Moodle

Learn the basics of Moodle and how this content management tool. Teachers will learn how to set up and add content to their own course.





EXCEL


Alea Renner
Participants will explore both basic and more advanced features of Excel 2007. Some of the topics that will be covered will be formatting, styles, formulas, sorting, filters, and much, much more! The district will be transitioning to Excel 2007 so this is a great opportunity to get a head start in learning how to use this new version of Excel.
